Summer! As a California girl, I love being in the sun. When I can, I’ll clear my whole day just so I can be outside running, reading, or tanning. I don’t always have hours to hang outside to bake, and I don’t want to completely ruin my skin, so sometimes I fake it.
Want a bronze look without have to spend hours under the sun? Here are my favorite items for a summer glow.
Charlotte Tilbury Overnight Bronze & Glow Mask – I use this on my face to give myself a subtle glow without the sun damage. I’m super particular about tanning my face, so even when I do go outside, I’m always in a hat with some SPF50. So naturally, my face is always a little lighter than the rest of me. This works like any old self-tanner, but doesn’t leave orange streaks and has a milder smells than most formulas. It has the consistency of a lightweight moisturizer, which I love. Even with one just application, I wake up with a glowy look the next day.
Coola Sunless Tan Dry Oil Mist – I am OBSESSED with this spray. It smells amazing and gives the body a brilliant, non-orange tan. Since it’s a dry oil, I always put a dark towel on the floor to avoid the mist from sticking to my bathroom floor. Spray, rub in, then wait about 15 minutes for the formula to dry. The color deepens after a few hours, so I like to put this on before bed to wake up a shade or so darker.
Jergen’s Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer – I use this as my everyday body moisturizer to keep my skin (particularly legs) looking radiant. I’ve tried a handful of other tinted body creams over the years but have found that this works the best and has the most tolerable smell.
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Colour – If you’re looking for a powder bronzer that gives a natural summer glow, then I highly recommend Chanel Les Beiges. It comes in a handful of colors, so you can pick a more natural shade or go with something a bit darker if you want more of that contoured bronze look. I’ve had mine forever, so although this is a little pricey, it’s worth it. I also love that it goes on fairly sheer, so it’s easy to layer and build color even if you have a heavy hand. I use the medium or medium deep color depending on how tan I already am.
Marc Beauty Dew Drops Gel Highlighter – Want to use makeup that smells like you’re on vacation? Then look no further. Coconut is one of the ingredients in these “dew drops” – so it quite literally smells like a tropical trip. I use a small amount (a little goes a long way) and pat onto my cheekbones for a dewy, non-greasy glow. For an all over radiance, you can also mix it into your moisturizer.
Glossier Haliscope Highlighter – If I’m in a hurry and not wearing makeup, then I use this highlighting stick in Topaz. The stick itself has a vitamin-enriched core, so I can get a bronze dewy look while hydrating my skin at the same time. This is perfect for days when you want a “no makeup” make up look.
Charlotte Tilbury Glow Palette – These bronze shades conveniently come in a palette together, so you don’t have to think twice about mixing and matching any of the colors. It’s the perfect companion for a vacation – and the best way to dress up your tan and transform it into a nighttime look.
